SMA Maintenance AB is a helicopter maintenance organization established in early 2014. The company is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Swedish Maritime Administration with the mother company also being the primary customer. SMA Maintenance supports the Swedish Maritime Administration’s Search and Rescue operation which is a 24/7 service. Despite being a young company our history goes back to 1961 when legendary pilot Knut “Knutte” Hedström started AB Fjällflyg; subsequently renamed to Norrlandsflyg. In 2011 the Swedish Maritime Administration acquired Norrlandsflyg and later on formed a stand-alone Part-145 organization which today is known as SMA Maintenance AB.
Our main strength is our ability to acknowledge our staff as our greatest asset and thereon thrive on their collected competence. The demanding task of keeping SAR-helicopters flying on a 24/7 basis has created a solid yet flexible group of people whose primary focus is safety and availability.
SMA Maintenance has a few fundamental principles that we let dictate the way we conduct ourselves and our work. We are:
COMPETENT – Our technical ability and skills is what creates the higher standard in what we deliver. Our ambition to always seek to develope our knowledge as well as our dedication to the field is what makes us stand out.
FLEXIBLE – We do not hesitate to go that extra mile to secure a delivery that matches both our own and our customers expectations. When coming upon an obstacle we do not let ourselves get distracted, on the contrary we expect them and welcome the challenge of creative solutions.
TEAM-ORIENTED – We have managed to weld together a team that understands the profits of a collaborative environment and acknowledges the team’s shared purpose. By experience we have learned that the collective result of an effective team is greater than the sum of each individual effort.
Staying true to our core values is what enables us to continuously obtain our objective – ensuring that our customer is confident in a delivery executed by SMA Maintenance.
